sooty mold

I have 2 small bifoliate catts (both w/ aclandiae in teh background) that
have been getting 1) mealy bugs and 2) sooty mold on the leaves. These
'infections' keep bouncing, 1st one then the other. I'm blanking on teh
cause for sooty mold. I can't remember if its brought in my a vector or
not... Any help?

I'd hit 'em with straight alcohol, including the roots. JMNSHO.

Sometimes the sooty mold is growing on insect exudates.

Follow Diana's advice and wipe with alcohol.

Yeah, after I posted I googled and sure enough, sucking insects lead to
honeydew secretions which lead to sooty mold. Hence the recurrence. Once I
finally get rid of the mealies the mold should abat. The alcohol sems to
take care of both troubles. And I'll repot.
