I was actually staying out on one of the (gazillions of) golf courses
in PSL--is exit 121 considered PSL? (No, I do not golf, but
availability is dicey this time of year.) Wow, y'all sure do have a
lot of shopping centers.

Drove up to odom's; the man's got some serious floof going on.
Gorgeous. Good thing I can't grow catts very well, otherwise I would
have come home with a carload.

Well, just came from there --the gift shop is pretty much cleaned out,
and they are currently unsure as to whether they will close to members
as well as the public.

I know; heard that this morning, and it's on the web site. What is
not
yet
clear is if *the public* includes members. Not sure, but will find
out
more
soon. It is a sad decline.

You were 6 minutes from me, give or take. Yes, 121 is PSL. Odom's is sensory
overload. Did you get to see the Phal house? It's separate from the main GH,
out in back. Phals as far as the eye can see. During the height of Phal
season it is quite amazing.

C & H has some great stuff in the latest catalog. I've sworn off babies,
though. Redland is coming up in May, along with several other shows,
including ours in March.

Side bar: my March bloomers are not waiting for March. My Apple Blossoms are
in full bud. So are the C. aurantiacas. I think C. amethystoglossa will be
in good shape. Etc. Blah, blah, blah.

Oh, no-- the catt house is so huge I thought that was it... Place was
deserted when I got there, but the sign said they were open so I went
in an open door, and promptly set off all the motion detectors.
I'll have to try to get out back next time (and perhaps give you a
holler too.)

Apologies for all the quoting, everyone --i'm on the blackberry and
can'trim.

Are Orchids as a hobby shrinking or is it just AOS?

From what I know, the hobby is growing.

I don't have raw data, but I can provide anecdotes :-).
My wife and I purchased significantly less orchid related things
in the past 14 months.

But my parents have discovered no-name cymbidiums and are looking at which
ones thrive in the heat on the patio in central North Carolina.
