Phal question

Hello the group! I hope this note finds each of you in good health
and spirit. I have a Phal, had it for about four years and it finally
flowered. It's a hybrid, and the tag reads - Phal. (P. Brother
Lawerence 'Ruby' X P. Carmela's Brite Lites 'Fireball'). The first
bud to open has no lip. There are three sepals, two petals, the
column, but no lip. The second, smaller flower is normal.
I've never seen this before and was wondering if there is a reason for
it? Does anyone else have this cross, and did you observe the same
thing? I took a couple pictures, but haven't uploaded them yet ...
when I do I'll provide a link.
Thanks.

Phal question

Probably just a one-time genetic flaw.
