"Obsession with Orchids" (#1710)
Growers talk about their obsession with these flowers and
macrophotography allows us to watch as a variety of insects fall under
their spell.

The --Nero Wolfe-- series used to feature NW among his orchids.
Unfortunately, the show was canceled--production costs were too high
for the period sets and costumes, at least that's what I've heard.

I heard they never reached an audience. At least not the Nielsen
numbers they wanted. Of course it would have helped if they had
scheduled it at a specific time and kept to that. It moved
around and was bumped so often I think I have seen 1 in 4. Very
few scenes in his Orchid growing room, but plenty of plants in
his office.

Re Nero: An excellent series, but the orchids were often clearly fake,
and the so-called greenhouse scenes were pretty sad.
