Iwanagara Appleblossom
I picked up a line from the s/h forum that would indicate Iwanagara
Appleblossom preferrs to dry out completely between waterings. I have one that seems to be thriving on once-a-week waterings with very week fertilizer. Anyone think I should cut back? |

If your plant is thriving on your culture, don't change just because a "expert" says it should be grown differently. Remember a "expert" is just a drip under pressure. Hi there "Sheepkeeper" (loved your profile photo BTW)
I have two of these & I also water once a week. I think these are one of the easiest orchids to bloom, fragrant & lovely too. Just don't let the sheep get them! *g* Cheers Wendy "Sheepkeeper" wrote in message ... And of course, how often you should water an orchid depends on lots of things - indoors / outdoors, humidity, temperature, clay pot / plastic pot, the size of the pot, the potting media, the phase of the moon, etc. deg |

If the plant is accustomed to S/H culture, then it should be kept constant.
If allowed to dry between waterings, then you're not really growing it in S/H culture, but are using the ceramic medium for more-or-less "standard" culture. Not that that's bad, I grow several plants that way myself. The problem is that if it is growing in a standard fashion, then it is likely that the roots have not acclimated to the constantly wet S/H mode, and may not do too well if you begin/resume the culture. -- Ray Barkalow - First Rays Orchids - www.firstrays.com Plants, Supplies, Books, Artwork, and Lots of Free Info! .. . . . . . . . . . .
