Ray,

I did set up the file size rule for O/E. Unfortunately, though, Earthlink's
Web Mail doesn't offer that option. With Web Mail I can read off of EL's
server. That inbox continues to fill up. So, a question: If I go
directly to the O/E mailbox, is that going to be affected by the Web Mail
inbox being clogged? My sense is no, but not sure.

It appears that I will not win the race. A total of 922 as of today.

But I can't detect any slowdown.

If OE is set to delete the files from the server, it will empty Earthlink's
server when you access and d/l them.

Wasn't a slowdown for me either - just a short lull. Up to 1102 now

So I'm also following your attachment file size / earthlink thread - do you
get your earthlink mail just with their webmail or do you also use outlook
express? And if you use outlook express, do you have it set to delete
messages from the server (and therefore no longer visible w/ the webmail)?

Also, I'm very suprised that Earthlink doesn't do a virus scan on incoming
mail for you and remove any virused attachments.

1092.

Earthlink has been great up to this point. I think the ISP's are having a
hard time with this one. Tom Bell posted a link to Symantec yesterday, over
in abpo. Haven't had time to access it yet, but will this afternoon.
Apparently it explains a bit more about how this thing morphs.

As far as web mail vs. O/E, I use both. Generally, I go to web mail first
and clear all the junk. I'm going to reset the rules to delete the messages
from the server, and see if that keeps them out of web mail. Thing is, I'm
on dial-up, and I think that makes a difference. Earthlink allows 10mb of
mail storage on their server, and these days it's either full or close to it
every time I sign on. I don't see where the O/E rule would change that, but
I'm going to try it. I'm kind of at my wit's end.

How do you get around the full inbox on the ISP server? Hope this is over
soon, or I'm going to have to change my addie and then use an alias respond
address here and at abpo. I hate to, but what option there is, I can't see.

How do you tell your O/E to send a false e-mail adres when you post at these
groups, I can't find anything that can do it for me.
Cheers

Tools - Accounts - News - Properties - then change the reply address to
whatever you wish. If you want to remain accessible to ng members, use
something like and then advise people to "pick
the pumpkin to respond".

Peter,

It just looks the same to me as if I were trying to answer one of your
previous posts, but don't go by me. I need an OE update.
