bamboo orchid question

I picked up a couple of staters in hilo and the guy there said you can
grow them in poting mix. I am trying one in bark and one in suppersoil
and so far no sprouts but its only been a little over a week. They grow
like weeds over on Hawaii and look like they need alot of moisture.
Anyone out there had any luck with these?

Yes they grow like weeds with these factors: High light, warmth, oversized
pot;garden mix medium, lots of water and occasional spray

I put 5 in potting soil mix and had 3 rot. I salvaged the other 2, soaked in
physan and replanted in a coir/ sponge rock mix. They didn't rot, but they
really didn't grow well either until I supplimented with micronutrients.
Also, in growth, they seem to like a lot of fertilizer. Now they're growing
like the Hawaiian weeds. I think that most potting mixes are not airy enough
which contributes to their rotting and early demise.

Yes. Unfortunately (for you, since it won't help you
much), I live in Hawaii so do nothing special for them.

I don't grow them. What I've heard from local customers is mixed success
with established plants, no luck at all with the dry bulbs one gets from
mail order catalogues.
