Congrats! They look so much like the family! : ) I haven't the slightest
idea other than letting the grow like they are till the root area gets about
4" long and put them on damp spagnum moss, but I'll let the rest of the crew
give you better instructions. They are so nice, mine are skinny little
fellas.

At this stage, nothing. They are not big enough to be self-sustaining.

Nice series, Troy. The Phals mounted on clay strawberry jars were
particularly interesting.
For your keikis, I'd wait until you have roots 2-3" or more long, then snap
the keikis off the mom plant, and pot them in small pots of whatever medium
mom is in.

Troy,

Hey jerk face... RGO is not the proper forum for uploading all your stupid
photographs of your "babies" and your other six photographs of useless crap,
and I mean crap. Two years from now (when you grow up) you are going to
look back on 3/17/2004 and be embarrassed by the cheap photographs of the
weeds (and dime-a-dozen hybrids) you just heaped on this sophisticated
newsgroup. And... you didn't even have the brains (or the courtesy) to
condense these photos to faster loading lower resolution compacted 50 KB
jpeg files... geez, did you just figure out how to use a computer also?

And secondly, you don't have "babies"... you have kiekies. Do us a favor
and speak the lingo (not wamby pamby baby talk) before you barge in here and
crap all over this newsgroup with huge 200 Kb-plus graphic files. RGO is a
discussion group of 1-4 Kb posts not a dumping ground for every over zealous
newbie that just discovered an orchid with his new Christmas gift digital
camera. People all around the world are downloading messages from this
newsgroup with modems that barely deliver 28 kbps... your childish photos
just choked the living shit out of those poor souls trying to engage in high
(and semi high) level orchid discussions who pay for their internet
connection by the minute.

Grow up. And, research the norms/traditions on a newsgroup for a week or
two before you come rudely blasting into the next one like you just did here
gobbling up our hard disk space with useless junk.

As for what to do with your dendrobium weed kiekies? Shove 'em up your
butt.

Mick

PS, Yippee to you too.

Well, normally you have to wait until there are enough roots to
sustain the plant. In this case, the picture shows roots developing
faster than the leaves. Let them grow until some of the leaves start
looking like they have reached their full size. Then you can pot
them up. You could also leave them alone much longer if you want to.
