Miltonia Inflorescences Getting Stuck

Hi all,

I have a Miltonia starting to go in bloom right now. The head of the
infloresence got stuck in the leaf, but kept growing. It got to the point
where it looked like it would break, so I gently pried it out today. The
plant started a second infloresence, and it looks like this one is going to
do the same thing.

Does anyone have any tips on how to best handle this, and how to prevent it
in the future?

Thanks.

Give it a stern lecture and threaten it with bodily harm. After that, you
need to lubricate the leaf sheaf where the spike comes from. Don't use
Vasoline or KY jelly, plain old water misted onto the area will work fine.
Do this at least once or twice a day These plants really like excellent
humidity with good air movement. See if you can raise humidity. If this
doesn't work, send it to the Queen of Hearts, I am sure she will be-head the
little sucker.
