hello,
i have been using h2o2 (1% of 10 vol [3%] -- for ex: 10 ccs of 3% h2o2
in 1 liter of water) for *terrestrials* (nonOrchids) which *seems* to
control certain problems related to roots etc) and i wonder whether
anyOne has used it successfully for orchids (for example to increase o2;
either cure or control rot etc)?
i have found this link
Hydrogen Peroxide and Horticulture
http://www.quickgrow.com/gardening_a...ticulture.html

i'd be very interested and grateful for opinions...
thanks in advance!

hi,
i have now heard that 10 ccs is *apparently* too much?????
apparently it should be 3 ccs of 3% (or 10 ccs of 1%) -- total 1%) FWIW
thanks for all the replies!
sincerely
Tanya

I never had spectacular results with my paphs. After listening to
Jack's program presented at a society meeting, I started "watering" my
paphs with 3& h202 once a week and they have shown the benefit of extra
O2 to the roots. It breaks down quickly, but not before the roots get
the benefit. And seeing his plants, you've gotta be a believer!

So you water with straight 3% H2O2 - you don't dilute it at all?

The fact that the plants are improving after the apparent increase in oxygen
at the roots suggests to me that your medium does not allow sufficient
ambient air flow to the root system.

If you modify your medium to open it up more, it's cheaper than buying
hydrogen peroxide all the time!

that's what i want to know too..
the info i got was that 10 ccs of 3% in 1000 ccs of water was THREE TIMES too
much
also i've tried ~50% of the 3% on terrestrials and following the fizzing, the
roots were gone :)
thanks!
