Phal yellow leaves issue
Xref: kermit rec.gardens.orchids:59488
I have a Phal that has 3 leaves on one side and two leaves on the other side, and now both the bottom and the middle leaves on the first side mentioned are going yellow, and thus once it has lost those two it will have 1 leaf on one side and 2 leaves on the other (so it's going down from 5 leaves to 3 leaves total). I have had this plant only for three months, it has not grown a new leaf yet, it is still in bloom. Is it ok for me to wait until it is done blooming, and repot then, or if it were your Phal would you want to look at the roots of this plant earlier just in case? If this plant does not grow a new leaf in what amount of time, or if it looses another of its leaves before growing new ones, when should I start to be concerned? The only other Phal that I have that has had only 3 leaves had serious root problems when I repotted it (but it has grown new roots and a new leaf in the meantime). Am I fussing too much, or do I have a reason to be concerned here? Thanks, Joanna |

Phal yellow leaves issue
I repotted this Phal today. It had a very healthy root system. I suspect
that I am being too fussy, repotting plants that don't really need it. Joanna "Susan Erickson" wrote in message ... The flowers are only taking energy that it needs for leaves and roots. It does not need to flower this year if you can keep it alive to bloom again. You can repot a phal that is in bloom. But if it is loosing leaves.... DO IT don't wait. I had a huge one that bloomed itself to death because I was not paying attention to the fact that it did not grow a new leaf.
