Default Fast moving tiny little bugs?

My Vanilla plant has these tiny little fast moving bugs, look like fleas?
They are gathering among the buds?
Any ideas, not aphids.

White?

In that case, we call them "kvitfly" round here. They are usually
quite easy to kill. Soapy water will do it.

Thanks Molli, they could be Spring tails but I would have to catch one &
magnify it
to be sure.
I will break out the Neem Oil.

I just fought those blasted things myself on a plant my daughter was given.
I usually use sunspray horticultural oil, but its not safe for Jade type
plants, so broke out the neem.

Is neem oil truly safe on plants that can't take hort oil? The neem has
insecticidal properties, but it is the "oil" part that makes me ask.

Personal experience here only Al, I sprayed a Jade plant with the sunspray,
stupidly NOT reading the label first. That plant looks horrid, the leaves
are limp and look sort of blistered. Sprayed the other three with Neem, and
they are just fine.

I was thinking the problem had to do with the very high light/sun levels and
the 'oil' interaction with it while coated on the plant's tissue surface.
Perhaps neem 'oil' isn't really the same type of thing as hort 'oil' and
they don't work the same way. I don't know. It's just that the word 'oil'
alarms me when I think of it being used on plants in bright direct light.

Ah..that makes more sense to me Al, I keep my Jade plants very shaded! I
probably should have mentioned that.....I grow them in a north window sill,
or the 'no sun when you want it' overhanging porch. My porch has only about
a 12" wide strip that actually gets sun, the rest is shade, am rapidly
running out of room on that strip for all my sun lovers!

Yup and they do no harm to plants, same with soil mites. Both feed on the
organic matter in the potting mix. I'll bet nearly everyone has them.
Noticable most of the time when watering. Letting the soil dry out a bit
helps a lot.

Thanks to Sam & Tom.
It's good to know that they don't harm the plants.

I guess the thing that worries me most about their presence - and that of ANY bug in the pot - is
that they are a potential indicator of problems happening in the medium.

Clean, fresh medium does not support extraneous wildlife like one that's older and has begun to
break down.

If the fact that the medium is "going south" doesn't concern you, consider other ramifications: I'm
not suggesting that springtail larvae are a problem, I don't have the knowledge one way or another
on that, but if we look at fungus gnats as an example, you can see where I'm going with this: the
gnats themselves are nothing more than a nuisance, and letting the pot dry out more between
waterings (not always acceptable from the plant's perspective) does control them to a certain
degree. BUT...their larvae - the creatures living mostly off of the fungus growing in the
decomposing medium - have a remarkable tendency to eat roots, too.
