Identifying Blooms
 

Hello Bill!

Alt. inaries. pictres.orchids is a newgroup who exist. If your ISP doesn`t
carry it, ask them to add it on their server!
If not, you can also subscribe to other server such as Giganews.com,
teranews.com etc...

Because there`s so many different hybrid from one specie or another, it
might be impossible to correctly identify your plant. We call those the NOID
plant!

A good place to buy orchid is to go to a gool orchid seller and even there,
sometimes we endup with a NOID plant!

Identifying Blooms
 

As Claude stated, there are so many hybrids out there, that even those you
*think* you've ID'ed via photos could be incorrect.

Be happy with knowing the genus of those, and buy tagged plants if you want
a better chance of knowing for sure.

ABPO as we call it should have B start the second word. And I
will have to agree that we would welcome your posts. Please
reduce them but clipping out the background and reducing the size
of the file. We have members who must pay for slow service by
the minute and must wait for large files to down load.

Hybrids are often similar to each other and makes it impossible
to ID most unlabeled plants beyond the level you say your able to
now. Many a Phal HD or Paph NOID has given great pleasure to its
grower. Enjoy them and do not try to attach labels to what can
not be identified.

Dr. Bill, as one who has committed the gaffe of purchasing HD orchids, I've
learned to be selective in what I buy, and to make sure they are identified.
My local HDs generally sell orchids that are ID'd, but if I grab one without
a stake, I find one of the ones that I've passed over and steal the stake
for my plant.
