Phal. Leuddemania won't flower
About two years ago I bought an N.B.S. Phal. Leuddemania “Arlington”
from Parkside, it arrived in good shape and has grown well. Last year it threw a flower stalk which is still there and very much alive but did not produce any flowers. This year it threw two more flower stalks that are both doing well. All three stalks show what look like tiny buds but do nothing more. The plant is growing on a windowsill with natural light. Five other phals next to it are growing well and flowering in season. Any ideas on getting it to bloom? Thanks in advance |
Probably apropos of nothing I came across many of Dr Wang's articles online.

I had a variety called 'pulchra' and found that mine needed a bit more light
than the average phal, and as was suggested, warmer night temps. Dont give up on it. It will bloom when you get fed up with it and threaten to throw it out. |

I have a Phal lueddemanniana pulchra subvar alba

Yes. I selfed it 4 years ago, but owing to a pH meter failure I accidentally burned up the offspring with a "hot" agar mix. One keiki from this plant sold for $2,000 two years ago to a collector in Taiwan. The main plant is spiking again so I will be trying another selfing soon. Sorry, might be a dumb question but... what is the difference between selfing and cloning? My understanding is that selfing is pollinating the plant with it`s pollen, that way, you get seeds and can go flasking. Cloning is taking cells from a part of the plant ang grow it in flask!
