Anybody know?

Does anyone know a Candian wholesaler of phals shipping into the US. I'm trying
to identify a multi-flowered pink stripe novelty I picked up yesterday. I tried
looking up the UPC code to find the grower but without success.

Did you pick up this orchid from Home Depot? My local HD has sold
orchids from a wholesaler in Canada, but I don't know who it is, or if
it would be the same wholesaler. I'm not certain that the Canadian
source even grows them--could be a middleman passing on Taiwan orchids.

A complete list of orchid vendors is availabe on the Canadian Orchid
Congress website. I think only a few ship to the US. There are also
'middlemen' who are not listed though; they act as a go-between, and do
not sell to the public....I don't know how you'd track them down. Have
you thought about just calling up the place you got the orchid from and
asking them which Canadian vendor they got it from?

Cheers,
Xi

No, I thought about that but decided against it. I did not get the plant at HD
but rather at BJ's Wholesale club. I don't usually buy plants this way but
could not resist. I also felt that I was in a way rescuing the plant since the
way they are packaged precluded any posibility of watering them.

I'm pretty sure that it is a meristem because of the shape, number of flowers
and the overall quality of the flowers. There are two branching spikes with
about twenty five well shaped pink striped multiflorals with red lip. The
flowers are about two inches across. I saw a similar plant a couple of years
ago at a grower in the Orlando area, actually near Krull Smith.

Does anyone know if CITES is necessary to ship plants from Canada to the US. If
it is I could trace the grower through the USDA.

CITES documentation is needed for any orchid import.
