Schom. lyonsii culture
All,
At our OS meeting on Tuesday I found myself the lucky winner of both an equitant Oncidium and a five pseudobulb division of Schom. lyonsii. I've been flirting with Schoms for a year or so, and now here one is. From what I have been able to dig up, this will be a big plant with extremely tall spikes (pretty flower, too). So far, the advice I have been given on Schoms is high light, lots of water, and feed with the Vandas. I have read that mounting is a good idea, but these guys get so big, and also mounts are hard to show. How about potted in Aliflor, or my favorite Catt mix, river rock and Aliflor? What say you all? Golly, it's good to be thinking about something other than insurance adjusters and broken fingers! TIA Diana |
Hey Di, Believe it or not, I am a collector of Schomburgkias so
if it is too much for you to handle, you can send it my way. *g* I have Schomburgkia splendida just opening & have taken a couple of pics for you. It is mounted & my hubby is holding it to show the size, posting over @ abpo. -- Cheers Wendy Remove PETERPAN for email reply Diana Kulaga wrote: All, At our OS meeting on Tuesday I found myself the lucky winner of both an equitant Oncidium and a five pseudobulb division of Schom. lyonsii. Hi !
I`ve also recently bought Schomburgkia splendida, but I don`t really know how to take care of it, eg. how to treat it during the winter time, so if you could also send mi some pictures and maybe some info also I would greatly aprreciate it :))) greetings from Poland Martha "wendy7" wrote in message news:oLEbd.28262$kz3.14091@fed1read02... Hi there Samaki, I can just tell you how my plant grows here in
S.Calif. It is in high light in the greenhouse, water once a week & more in summer. I treat it the same as my Cattleyas. Schomburgkia splendida From J. Pfahl's site:- http://www.orchidspecies.com/indexqrsel.htm They like to be on a large wood mount and need water while in active growth and like high light to ensure blooming which generally is in the spring through summer. -- Cheers Wendy Ps..for pics go to alt.binaries.pictures.orchids Remove PETERPAN for email reply samaki wrote: Hi !
