These Dens followed me home...
....and now I don't know what to do with them!
At a general nursery's orchid show last weekend, I saw these tiny (2" pots) Dens and they looked so cute (I know, I should only buy for my "climate" - I have already slapped myself on the hand) that I had to take them home. They are Den. adae and Den. amabile (bronckartii). Now having read up on them a bit, I figure Den. adae will do okay in my sunroom. I need to give it a winter rest, right? Should I start now, is it too late or is the plant too young? (largest growth 8 1/2" from pot to tip, two new growths coming are about 1 1/2") Any Aussies or anyone else out there who has it and can give me tips? The amabile will not do in my sunroom, I figure. I have read that it is a cooler grower, and my room easily peaks at 90°F, winter and summer. Only spring and fall are cooler. Should I be giving it a rest now, too? Is it doomed to die under my conditions? HELP!!! |
