Cym. Erythraeum

I've been growing various clones of this species for several decades.
I have to admit I haven't been able to clearly identify the cause(s) of
the leaf spotting that is so common in these. Occasionally a theory
(temperature, light, potting media, drainage, etc.) seems to make sense
- other times the theory seems to fall apart. I tend to think it is
water quality, but if that is the case RO water (with all the issues
that brings) would be the only cure, as our well water here has very
low EC. There does seem to be some differences between the cultivar.
This is becoming inportant to me (again) as I intend to release for
sale a group of seedlings this week, and would love to be able to say
something more cogent than, "I'm not sure".

I believe this is very different from "ensifolium crud", another bane
of the Cymbidium grower.

Kermit,

You might want to prepare a more polished inquiry, along with some photos on
your website of the problem at hand, and post a query to the Orchids Digest
mailing list.

Unfortunately, I do not grow Cymbidiums, so I can't help much.

Thanks, Eric. A great suggestion. I'll try for a "Cultural
Mysteries" page in the next day or two.
