ants in my

den. so i've got this big spatulate den growing in lava rock in a big
clay pot. it now has a colony of ants in it. i watched them lugging
their offspring across the kitchen floor and up the plant stand and
into the bottom of the pot last night, completely bypassing the ant
traps. :(

so the question: i was thinking of mixing up some ultrfine and using
it as a drench on the pot for a few weeks (usually i use it as a spray
if i see critters). thoughts? potential downside to the plant? thx in
advance....

If you have a leak proof container (bucket or such) the at will hold your
pot completely you might try putting the pot in and filling it with water
for 30 minutes or so the next time you water the plant. I've read they will
probably abandon
ship, or was it orchid? Either way if it works it's better than chemicals in
the kitchen.

well when i came down this morning there was a swarm thing going on, so
right now, the den is on the deck getting rained on and the tray it was
in got rinsed in the sink and the majority of them washed down the drain.

i may indeed have to do the bucket thing again. :-)

had a Shiva-destroyer-of-worlds moment there over the sink, i must
admit.... i know, i'm in negative karma with ants. (but i saved a
spider last night--! that must be worth something!)
