Does Society Suck?
(sorry if this is a repost- server is being wonky)
There is an alternative. There is another way, a better way. Remember that old 'commune' movement back in the '60s? "Let's all live together in peace and harmony and share what we have to make a better world" Guess what? 'Communes' grew up!! Now called 'Intentional Communities', you can find everything from egalitarian (all are equal), income-sharing, eco-villages to 'spiritual retreats'. Some places you 'buy' into and get your own place, other places don't require any 'investment' other than your ability and willingness to help out. Awesome places to raise kids (think ideally no violence, no corruption, no commercialism, healthy fresh organic food, YOU control your child's curriculum). Curious? Come learn more! Want to talk and learn about Intentional Community? Want to connect with other Communities and Communitarians? We're a new forum with lots of neat perks. Registration is free and simple. Come see what we're all about! (yes, this is a membership drive - we're brand new) So come visit me, Geekgirl, and help build community online. Now called 'Intentional Communities', you can find everything from egalitarian (all are equal), income-sharing, eco-villages to 'spiritual retreats'. You can still see many successful, fully functioning communes that date back to the sixties. They are still called communes, and guess what? They are all grown up. Schooling is haphazard and low standard, most adults are heavily into drugs, many are vegetarians and suffer the various illnesses associated with that lifestyle. Curious? Come learn more! Not from a clueless fruit loop like you I won't. Want to talk and learn about Intentional Community? Want to connect with other Communities and Communitarians? Nope. You can still see many successful, fully functioning 'communes' that date... much much further back than the sixties. Sometimes they are called 'communes', sometimes not. As for being 'all grown up', that was just a colorful way of saying that the more successful communities learned what it takes to BE successful, such as a lot of planning, guidelines, membership limits, ways to sustain themselves financially and the list goes on. Crap. Schooling is haphazard and low standard, most adults are heavily into drugs, many are vegetarians and suffer the various illnesses associated with that lifestyle. Depends on where you go. The best communities are NOT into 'drugs', that's a fallacy, at least no more so and probably LESS so, than society anywhere. The primary places I've been in contact with actually discourage drug use to the point of only allowing smoking in certain restricted areas (even outside). Some are vegetarians, some are not, most are a blend of both. As for suffering illnesses associated with 'that lifestyle'?? That's just naive. People living in modern-day 'communes' are some of the healthiest I've seen, especially the children. Curious? Come learn more! Not from a clueless fruit loop like you I won't. Anyone who takes the time to actually look into the movement will quickly conclude that I'm not the clueless one. Not interested. This is about permaculture, not newage bullshit. "Newage"?!? Where did that come from? Unless you mean like.. moving into a new age, which is where the idea of permaculture belongs. Many Intentional Communities are also Eco-Villages (or at least moving in that direction far more than mainstream society). Tell me how that doesn't apply? Don't bother people, their web site is full of naive misinformed crap. You obviously didn't even bother to look. After all, why would you with your assertion that you're not interested in IC? Someone has a boulder-sized chip on their shoulder. Why all the hostility? This newsgroup hadn't even seen a new post in months. -- //The GeekGirl\\ 0.o Discuss a different way of life - Intentional Community Connection forum http://www.mfipb.com/?mforum=communityonline "Miss Pixxie Stinx" wrote in message ... geekgirl wrote: (sorry if this is a repost- server is being wonky) There is an alternative.
