PhD Fellowship Available - (Weed Population Ecology and Control)
A PhD fellowship is now available at University of Canterbury, Christchurch New Zealand (www.canterbury.ac.nz) to work on the project "Ecology and control of Tradescantia fluminensis in natural ecosystems in New Zealand." The successful applicant will work under the supervision of Dr Dave Kelly (University of Canterbury) in collaboration with Drs Shona Lamoureaux, Graeme Bourdôt (AgResearch, www.agresearch.co.nz) and Simon Fowler (Landcare Research, www.landcareresearch.co.nz). The student should have a background and/or interest in plant population ecology and ecological modelling. In addition a sound understanding of differential calculus and linear algebra would be an advantage. The fellowship will cover a student stipend of NZ$25,000 per annum, all university fees, and a suitable research budget, for a period of three years. It is open to applicants from New Zealand and from overseas countries, but the cost of airfares to/from New Zealand is not covered.
