New Ethnobotany Project on Wikipedia
I recently drafted a proposal for a new project on WikiPedia -- the
Ethnobotany Wikiproject ... Check out the project proposal at the following URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped...ct_Ethnobotany. We need some supporting members to get approval from Wikipedia to start the project up. I think it would be extremely valuable to have a site like Wikipedia, with such an enormous viewership, to be promoting knowledge about edible and medicinal plants. There are thousands of species of plants which have articles on wikipedia dedicated to them, but very few of them have edible/medicinal/fiber/etc usage information on them ... so I am trying to start a project to add this sort of information to these articles. If you haven't edited on wikipedia before, feel free to email me with any questions on how to get started -- I'd be glad to help. Anyhow, I thought you all might be interested in helping us work on this due to your knowledge of plants. Looking forward to working with some of you there. And please tell your friends about the project, we need all the people we can get -- it's a huge task to tackle! Cheers! Jesse |
