tomato existed before the potato tomato? Solanum or Lycopersicon

I don't know about a tomato/potato combination, but I do know that if you combine a tomato and

Interesting. This gives me an idea for a method of testing.

I made the hypothesis that the tomato is the genetic parent of the potato.
And that the tomato plant existed before any potato ever existed. And that
the tomato mutated in South America some millions of years ago and gave
birth to the first potato plant. And instead of waiting for the Genome project
to include the wild tomato and wild potato and decades of time spent in
correlating.

The above gives me an idea for a much faster means of testing my
hypothesis. If my hypothesis is true then it implies that radiation for
a wild-potato and wild-tomato combination would be highly conducive
since they are already closely connected.

I doubt that the tomato gave birth to tobacco some millions of years ago
and I doubt that the tomato is closer related to tobacco, than the tomato
to potato relationship. So, if a tomacco is readily possible, then, if my
hypothesis is correct that the potato is a mutated tomato some millions
of years ago, then a combination of tomato/potato should be much easier
than the tomato/tobacco combination.

I would be awfully surprized if researchers only did tomato/tobacco to date
and no-one had the audacity and boldness to try tomato/potato.
