Sorry, most of us do not open e-mails with attachments from people we don't
know.

Hello to you specialist

I have that house plant, sorry but I don't know the name, she has enough
water and light and no apparent bugs but the leaves all are sick. New leaves
are growing; they are ok for some time and the same drying finally appear.
Look at the picture. Any one know why and what to do to correct the
situation?

Yes, I agree--the photo shows extensive dead leaf tips which is usually
caused by overwatering. The colour of the rest of the plant looks as though
it could do with a bit of sunlight too. It's a palm, put it in the sun and
dont water it too much. You might as well cut off that whole leaf and and
others like it--they arent doing the plant any good.

I told him probably too little humidity. This is the most common problem trying
to grow tropical plants indoors in cold climates.

If a personal name ends in a consonant (except -er) then a termination of
two "-i-"s must be added for the proper genitive.

I got that one, but please explain Cedrus libani. It is not a person's name,
but why didn't they call it libanensis or libaniana?

Iris,

+ + +
As you note "libani" is a genitive also. It is not a genitive based on a
personal name and thus not augmented with the honorific extra "-i-". Some
personal names are not either, since traditionally this only happened to
distinguish from 'surnames' from given names. There are still some
traditional given names which also are spared the extra "-i-" (eg
"francisci")

This "libani" is a genitive based on a geographical name. Traditionally both
genitives and adjectives were used for geographical features, but at some
point there slipped in the recommendation that it should be an adjective
(now 60D). I am not sure why, likely to avoid confusion: it appears as if
"francisci" always is from a person and "franciscana" from a town/city St
Francis[co].
