Salt In a Nutshell
roughly...
1/2 cup salt in 1 gallon = 3%, the concentration for a dip. 1/2 cup in 10 gallons = 0.3% 1/2 cup in 30 gallons = 0.1% 10 x 1/2 cup or 5 cups of the course rock salt used in water softeners will give you about 0.1% --Ingrid-- The above is something I saved from RP that came in handy today, so I thought I'd put it up in RPM. A couple koi club members went to the Portland show and picked me up a couple of wakins. I put them in with a small one (or 2*) of mine, and then my son points out my small one has something wrong with its mouth.s So I decided to salt the little pond they're quarantined in. Thus... the C&P above came in handy (thanks Ingrid). ~ jan *There were 2 babies in there, but I've only seen one at a time for the last several days... probably not the best place to put new fish... but oh well. The filter is in good shape and it was ready to go. ------------ Zone 7a, SE Washington State Ponds: www.jjspond.us |
