UV Light - Wow

Located in N. Illinois.

I have a 120 gallon pond. 20 gal upper, waterfall, 100 gal lower pool. Too
many fish, they grew.....

I know the rule is 1in per 10gal. So I have about five times too many fish.

Could not keep the algae under control.

Bought a 500gal UV canister filter Nursery Pro Ultra Clean. Problem fixed.
I clean it about once every three weeks. The water is crystal clear.

Clean the pre-filter about once a week, mainly leaves.

Martin

Maybe it's time to find homes for some of them. Water quality will start to
deteriorate when there are too many unless you do constant partial water
changes. That can get old.

Just bought a test kit to monitor. Retired so lots of time. Changing
water, no problem. But I agree, soon some will have to find another
home.....

Ouch, that rule is for inside aquariums w/tropical fish, not outside
set-ups. If we're talking goldfish, with good filtration, it is 20 gallons
per fish.

UV will clear the water, but it won't let you know if that clear water is
clean water. Glad to read in later thread that you've purchased tests kits.
In particular I hope you got Ammonia, Nitrite, KH & pH, and since you have
UV NitrAte also. So what readings are you getting? ~ jan
