Algae

Hi, I made a 20gal skippy filter and it is working perfect up till today i
noticed some string algae populating in the filter mostly on top attaching
itself to the water hyacinth and lettuce. The rest of the pond is doing
really well. Should i clean it or just leave it alone.
I might reduce the number of fish i have which is about 20-25 fish in
size from 3" to 10". Does this look like alot? The pond is 12'X7'X2'. Thanks

You can remove string algae by hand. Gently,
as broken off pieces will grow again.
I do fish by gallons. 1000 to begin with for koi, 100 for
every additional koi, 20-40 gallons per goldfish.

I wouldn't worry about the SA in the filter, it is a plant. ;-) What kind
of fish? If koi, I'd sure be picking out my favorite 4, and thinking of
selling the rest. You'll be surprise how fast koi grow when there is less
of them. ~ jan
