building an inline filter system. where can I buy the bits from?
 

Hi,

I am thinking of getting a new filter system so could I use my current ecocell 2200 filter with no media in it but use it as a settlement chamber by removing the internal piping so water is pumped into the top and then also flows out at the top into another filter so sediment falls to the bottom. Would this work?

Failing this I might attempts ot build a vortex chamber but I cannot find anywhere online which sells "bulkheads" and normal black tanks which i can use to make filters out of. Where can I buy these from or has anyone got one I can buy?

ecocell as pre-filter, have water piped down to bottom, flow up to
top thru loose screening (plastic window screen) to hold sediment at

Now thats a brilliant shop for bulkheads except I might have forgot to mension im in the UK and we call them tank connectors I just learned. (sorry my fault)

Thats a brilliant range of tank connectors if only I could find a UK online shop that did them.

http://www.koicarp.org.uk/koi_plumbing.htm has some bulkhead/tank
connectors. They are solvent weld so if you want to fit a flexible hose
to them you will also need a solvent weld hosetail (below the middle of
the page).

I normally go a buy this type of thing from a local Koi specialist
because I can check things fit together. I found them in yellow pages
and rang to see if they did plumbing fittings and then went along to
have a look.

Jan is certainly right about the benefit of bottom to top flow through
screen or some other easy-to-clean filter material. Sideways would also
work. Top to top would have to allow settlement time somehow between
entrance and exit.

Check out uniseals and pipe boots. Thats' how we do it cheaper in the US. Happy ponding.
