Veggie Filter?

I'm primarily from the aquarium side of things. Can anyone tell me what a
veggie filter is?

Veggie Filter?

A veggie filter is essentially another aquarium or Tupperware container that
is heavily planted. Plants in a veggie filter are often emmersed (not
immersed), fast growing, non-aquarium plants. Water from the aquarium with
fish is circulated through the veggie filter and the plants consume ammonia,
nitrite, and nitrate and other stuff. The plants also oxygenate the water.

Here's a picture of one variant.

Lots of plants, lot of light and water circulating between the bodies of
water.
Take time to work out the water movement system so that a power or pump
failure doesn't lead to an overflow.

Hey Ingrid,

Of course.... you have created a terrific example....

There is no confusion here, is there? I did not create this veggie filter. I
only referred list participants to the source. If I created any confusion,
it was unintentional and I apologize.
