Default When to divide lilies?

I'm in OKC (zone 7) and am getting ready to start bring my plants out of
hiding to put into the pond. I've noticed my hardy lilies while in "hiding"
(In a tub of water in a cool room with a light on for 8 hrs a day) seem to
have grown, some a lot. They are crawling out of their pots, should I just
re-pot into a taller pot, or is it safe to divide this time of year?

My hardies all seem to have kept a few leaves all winter long, but my
tropicals haven't done anything all winter, I didn't expect them to, but
hope they survived. I don't plan on doing anything to them, aside from
possibly putting into a wider pot, and of course fertilizing!

Thanks for any advice!

Bryan

I have successfully divided hardy water lillies as late in the season as
late August, and they do fine. Also in Early spring when they are just
starting up. I'd say now is ideal in your climate.

In zone 7 you do not need to bring in your hardies. It is safe to divide a
hardy lilly any time of year,,,even when they are blooming. Jerri
