Hi,

Can anyone tell me what the weed is that is thriving in my pond?

The weed is green and floats freely on the surface of the pond. As far as I
can tell, the leaves are oval (around 3-4mm long and 2-3 mm wide). They have
a look which I think is reminiscent of the leaves of watercress but they
have no stem.

I've seen this weed on covering the surface of canals in the UK and as a
child, I seem to remember that we called it "Jinny Greenteeth"

Could it be common duckweed? It doesn't grow in my ponds because my
goldfish and koi eat every speck of it. I do see it grow in farm stock
ponds though. The frilly edged type is not eaten by my fish.

Satellite picture shows you don't have a pond. Pot holes in front a
doublewide is not a pond.

It is when it rains.............to Carol at least. Then she goes
outside with a little yellow rubber ducky and a dead carp and plays
make believe....

But then the sun comes out and dries up the pot hole pond and wipes
her dreams away until it rains again.......

I think that the duckweed suggestion seems pretty much on target. As for
most of the other replies, you should really try to get out more.
