Pond Mystery

A pond mystery.

I found a body of a small fish had washed up on a rock in my bigger koi
pond. I picked it off to find one of my larger black moor babies (Nickle
size), from the tub about 6-8 feet from the ponds, with half its face gone.
I am stumped. A raccoon, typical head eaters I believe (or do they leave
the head?), would have trashed the tub. A bird, of any type, would have
eaten it whole, right? It sure couldn't have jump from tub to pond. I saw
the one orange fantail in the tub and lots of the tiny black moors still in
there. Any other ideas? ~ jan

Cat? Did not like the taste of the black moor, and then toyed with it for a
while. Wanted to make sure you saw the result of his handiwork so left you
the carcass at the pond? Knowing very well you will go to the pond being a
PORG?

Do you have cat(s)? Have you been ignoring the cat(s). Vendetta by the
cat(s) against your beloved fish that you spend all your time and money on?

Yes I am in to conspiracy theory! Nothing else to do while I wait for my
filter material to show up!

I'm thinking bullfrog startled while eating, hopping away like mad
while regurgitating a half-devoured fish.

I vote for, it was already said, it was chomped on after it died from
whatever reason.

Ingrid, you missed the point that lead me to my conspiracy theory. The dead
fish was in a tub that is 8 feet from the pond that the dead body ended up
in! You see, dead fish don't fly! Something moved it from the tub to the
pond.

My money is still on the angry cat, or the Mafia! But then the Mafia
prefers horse head don't they?

Clearly it was a suicide, and saying anything else makes you part of the
vast right fin conspiracy.

I vote for a bird that dropped it.

Especially with nibbled out eyes. ;o)

I think this theory may be close, only it would have to be the ghost of my
cat. There are other cats in the neighborhood, but the scarecrow sprinkler
is now on and aimed, so hopefully no more losses. ~ jan

The clue was there originally. ;o)

Update: I think the fish did have wings. I think possibly the Maypies, who
use the tub for drinking, might have snagged the fish and dropped it in the
koi pond. ~ jan
