Well all I can say is when I get into the intracies of keeping Koi I
hope you guys are around to put me right.....and help out...even if it
is on a moderated group which I guess would allow me to sort the wheat
from the chaff....without the hassle of sorting it manually in my head...
Gill

LOL! The moderators get the chaff don't they? ;-) ~ jan

Wow, I never really thought about the different types of Koi
before....just that they are pretty neat fish that I want to keep one
day....You just sent me off to google by your mention of the bekko koi -
nice fish - I'm rather taken with the Utsuri - almost like a chess board
- never seen them on sale in the usual places over here but they would
be an interesting variety to keep....

BTW the website I found with all the varieties is:-

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/a.anton...niokoi_007.htm

Has nice pictures as well....

I have no idea what a "sanke" is. Some sort of exotic meat or vegetable?

Tri-Colored (red,black,white) Koi. ~ jan :-)

Thanks, Jan. I've seen photos and even live koi (I've been to Water Garden
Gems in TX on several occasions), but never had koi of my own, so I didn't
pick up on the terminology.

I shouldn't say I've never had koi of my own; on two occasions a local pet
shop sold me what I thought were goldfish and turned out to be koi. I
returned them for goldfish.

Well not in that basic aspect. Its a fish with a "white" body and red
and black marking on the white body. You can also have a black bodied
fish or even a red bodied, with the other two colors and its not a
sanke...at least not how it was explained to me.
