Attn: all true rec.ponders -please post to news.groups.proposals -from ron

Hi everyone.

The RFD has now been published, and it appears in several
different newsgroups.

However, all _official_ discussion, pro and con, needs to take
place in news.groups.proposals. That is the only group officially
recognized by the B8 Management Board for discussions of new
newsgroup creation.

"That is the only place where it really counts."

Please take your thoughts, opinions, comments, etc. there if you
want them to be considered by the B8M Board.

Thank you.

Ron Schompert (formally known as "george")

Phyllis and I did not realize my post had to go through the
moderators...so we posted it a second time...no result...then a third
time! Then we realized about the moderation. I (Jim) am afraid we
will look like spamers!

'Vorian', did you get a rejection or did it just not go up right away?

Jim

be heard, where it really matters here on rec.ponds

My questions to the RFD were not unreasonable.
what are you afraid of?

And why did Tim cut and past your RFD before it was posted?

Please be aware that not all NSPs carry "news.groups.proposals." I had to

about to switch)....no issue subscribed within seconds....and I think
all of us can just about cope with reading the discussion via google
without switching NSPs on such an important discussion....

Controling by various means

You raise an interesting point about control.

Gregory Bateson noted that 'You cannot not communicate.' I have often
observed that there comes a point in many decisions where no decision
is in fact a decision. Faced with a decision, you cannot not decide.

I think the discussion of control by moderation and control by constant
conflictual or demeaning remarks falls into a similar category.

I wonder what it is about launching conflictual remarks that reaches so
deeply into some people? The anger reflected in some of the
conflictual posts seems to be anchored way down and to lash out with
much more energy that the triggering post demands. In some ways it
seems like the static electricity that we experience on wool rugs: it
builds up inside and then zaps whomever comes near when it has built
up.

Some folks just have to be in charge no matter what.....its paralell
to Carol and her need to be center stage under the spotlight...yet
another example of what an attention whore is.
