And the recommendation by e-mail was:

FORMALIN since the pond contains many plants. Salt would be out.

1 oz. treats 500g and costs around $9.00 for a 16 oz. bottle so it's
economical.

Thanks for the reply ;-)

Next time do not use your neighbors pond as a means to wash your nasty
laundry in.

notice you failed to recommend anything safer.

Better than blindly recommending something with which I have no personal or
practical experience and possibly causing serious harm to someone's
cherished fish. Silly me.

Your ****ing in the wind trying to tell Carol Gulley anything. Carol
aka Zebulon is the worlds greatest authority on fish and ponds, and
odds are she'll tell you she taught the U of F professors what they
know.

There really is only one right answer to the ich in a pond problem.
PUll the fish, for 6 to 8 weeks and the cycle of ICH wil be broken
inthe pond, and treat the fish in a hospital / quaratine tank for the
6 to 8 weeks it takes cycle to break in the pond..Then again Carol
lis a dumbass and only gives bits and pieces of info.....Carol is
gonna recomend something, anything, wrong or right just so she can say
she is in charge and people focus on her.....She could care less about
the ramifications if its not right.

So you really wouldn't know how safe Formalin was since you never used it
yourself. I see. Well since I never used it either and that was the only
recommended treatment for a pond full of plants, I'll pass it along to them
with a copy of the webpage warnings to make sure they wait for the water to
warm up and aerate the water like crazy if they choose to use the product.
