Default Best filter for floating algae??

I have lots of small floating algae, some moderate clumps but most very
small. The water itself is clear due to a good UV filter but I still get
moderate floating algae. It plugs up the skimmer screen and the pump screen
as well as my bubble bead filter.
What is the best way to filter this before it gets to the pump and bubble
bead filter?
Would a vortex filter work with material that floats freely in the water? I
worry the algae will stay suspended and not fall out.
Is there a filter box and medium that would filter yet be easy enough to
clean? Something hard to clean or needing frequent cleaning would be no
improvement over my current system which I have to clean 2-3X a week.
Any help appreciated!
Thanks, Brad Stamm
