forget the
name of the stuff Jan uses. Ingrid

I have a product called DesaFin by tetra. Can this be used with salt already in
the pond?? The label say's cannot be used with any other pond treatments. Do
they mean medication? Or do they mean, micorbe-lift, etc??

Thanks

Same stuff, just their brand name. I personally don't think that it
acts quickly enough or evens works. I much prefer Aquatronic's Dyacide,
which is a trichlorfon and works great and fast. Also will kill anchor
worms. I use this prophylactically every spring, like many state Fish
and Game dept around the U.S...

"Dirt" would be a loose term...but yes...it is the collective goo that
collects at the bottom of the pond.

Here I am! ;-)
Mulm is stuff that builds up on the bottom of your pond.
It contains:
blown in dust
blown in sand
blown in dirt
fish poop
snail poop
frog poop
tadpole poop
bird poop
uneaten fish food
dead algae
dead zooplankton
dead tree leaves
dead lily flowers
dead plant foliage
shed husks of aquatic insects
a couple of drowned earth worms, a few
leeches, some horse hair worms,
a bunch of flatworms, lots
of redworms
and
the remains of Jimmy Hoffa.

Ya'll are entertaining.....
and i sure wish i would have cleaned the pond. I grabbed some more
anacharis for the aquarium, and it has real honest to goodness sludge
in the bottom. Maybe an inch. Although i wanted and was glad to get
the toad spawn/eggs, i guess i got just a tad bit grossed out thinking
about everything that has happened in that water and it is still the
same water! I changed out maybe 10 gallons the other day before the
spawn and took about 10 gallons for the aquarium. Still, i can't want
to suckstuff off of the bottom and shelves! After the mating and eggs
extravaganza the toads put on the other night, there was only one at
the pond last night and eating bugs was all he cared about.

The toad eggs.....in one day they are elongated.

NEVER, EVER, NEVER under any circumstances (except pond with no fish) toss dry PP
into the pond. make a stock solution and dilute that as well. INgrid
