Odd Koi Behaviour?

HI,
Mine like to be at the surface when the sun warms the pond. They line up in
rows and take a snooze.

Hi,

I've a 14" koi, about 8 years old and just noticed some odd behaviour .
This fish has always enjoyed basking just under the surface, but lately

he's
taken to sticking the tip of his tail fin out of the water, like something
from "Jaws"
He seems happy enough, swimming straight and level and not lingering at

the
surface any more than usual. The water quality is fine no there's no sign

of
distress.
Has anyone else notice this sort of behaviour?

Cheers,

Eddie
