I just put some parrots feather into my stream, but it's realitively slow
moving, and not very deep or wide. You could probably put anything that you
want into your stream, except for lilies.

Hope this helps,
Bob

I have watercress in mine. Also penny wort - but I'm second guessing that
choice - stuff grows like a weed.

There are a lot of plants that would grow well in the stream, but all of the
water plants are so rapid growing that I would worry about them getting
large enough to divert the water out of the stream, emptying the pond.

That is exactly the same issue I've got! I ordered some creeping
jenny and watercress on the hopes it'll grow in the stream

I have Pennywort, Watercress, and in the slower moving parts, Floating Heart
and Water Clover in my streams. the Floating Heart keeps trying to go over
my lower falls, so I have to wade in and trim the rihzomes on occasion.

My water mint is thriving in the stream. When it gets too ambitious, I
just pinch it off.

Anybody put plants in their stream?

I started a plant called Monkeyflower (I think) in our stream several years
ago and it's doing fine. It grows about a foot tall and has violet-white
flowers in June (Zone 5). I got my starts from a local stream where it seems
to grow like grass on shallow sand bars. Locally, it's considered a weed and
I've never seen it for sale in garden centers.

I just bought Monkeyflower seeds from Parks seeds.com. I'm looking forward
to trying a few in my stream as well. Thanks for the tip Roger. kim
