Phila frozen pond

Well I spent the other day pulling about 10 pounds of lotus tubers off the
bottom of the formerly dead pond....I put five feeder goldfish in there.....saw
two snails last week.....no frogs or other fish survived the winter....I have
been pulling "stuff" out for the past few weeks. Giving it time to clear each
time....I noticed white earth worm looking creatures living in the "stuff" on
the bottom....any suggestions as to what they actually are? About 4-5 inches
long, white.....any ideas???

Thanks, worms and all

There is a white leech which is three inches long.
It is called a Helobdella and are common throughout North America. Some species
of it are parasites of snails, others of fish, frogs and turtles.
They have 'eyes' and are kind of ribbed like the Michlean (sp?) Man.
Or could they be drowned bleached out earth worms?

These are really earthwormy looking......same size and width......and just as
squirmy.....I'll treat the robins......I have so much junkystuff on the bottom,
I guess they set up house......

looking forward to a live pond again....without the wormy things....big grin.
