PondMaster Mag-Drive 36 problems

I've had this pump for about a month and now sometimes it won't turn on
when I plug it in. I'm forced to hit the outside of the casing to get it
to start. Anybody else have this problem? Should I return it?

Have you cleaned the impeller housing ? It could have a calcium build
up or have been scored, not good.

When my mag drive didn't want to start, I took it apart and found the
impeller shaft had broken at the front. The magnetic part of the shaft to
the rear was showing scored marks, because it was running off center. The
impeller shafts are a standard replacement part, and easily replaced.

Ok.. I haven't broken it in yet really since my stream isn't done, just
turned it on for an hour or so at a time. I noticed what looks like a
hairline crack along the impeller housing, but I'm not sure if it is or
not. I guess I will take it apart and see..

I have what looks like hairline cracks on a different model - just a molding
artifact.

I've found a good inlet indispensable. It only takes a little grain of sand
to jamb the impeller drive mechanism.

Wow, then I guess I know why it's clogged up. I've been running a lot of
muddy water through it recently. Oops.
