LOL :-) Your picture raised an issue I have been PONDering!

Will a scarecrow, net, electric wire etc, deter a hungry bear from feeding
on our Koi?

Christine, you have to have a little whimsy at the pond LOL.

Hey, checked out your webpage! Wonderful photos of your family and pets,
(I have a back persian too!) etc.

I've got a son named Christopher and he's into films and is now going to
college for his degree in Film. Hopefully, his Navy reserve unit will
not get called AGAIN and he can stay in college.

We have several black bears roaming around these woods, mostly getting
into garbage (not ours, it's stored in large box inside garage) and
destroying bird feeders. I bring my feeders in at night, keeping in
little cottage behind my house.

I have never seen any evidence of the bears going near any of my three
small ponds. Just the one in front of porch has fish in it. Maybe being
so close to the house deters them? Maybe it's that there's already a
"bear" claiming the pond LOL.

Seriously, I will keep my fish in the tank if I start having any serious
predator problem. I really don't want to call the taxidermist again to
see if he wants a dead animal...

When I read this I thought "Oh no, now I have to worry
about bears too". I'll put a photo of my fishing frog
up on my site.

Alright, you got me.

If it's a real bear, you get out the paint ball gun and let him have it. He
will exit and probably won't return. Every time he licks the paint, he will
remember your pond. :-)

Maybe a car alarm rigged to wires.

When you hear the alarm go off, get a paint ball gun and blast him. This
serves 2 purposes: It makes him leave, and it makes him fear guns, which
could save his life some day.
