does everyone here like frogs?
I know several local ponders who hate them as much as I do. Our pond is
just outside my daughter's bedroom window and the noise is enough to keep anyone awake at night. I often find her camped out on the floor of her brothers' room. What can be done to minimize the attraction of them. Our pond is not very naturalistic, as it is just a rectangular koi pond with an urn fountain in the middle. Ann |

Ann Everything i go through with my pond all started with a bowl of water and a couple of ice cubes for the toads in the hot texas summer heat. I love them and thus breed them now. Or hope to, i kinda accidently killed some this (my first) year. M room mate and I enjoy the sound because we know they are doing thier nature thing in our backyard and that is just plain cool. But one night my son came flying out of the bedroom, went out the back yard, and yelled, "GET BACK IN THE POND!!!!!" So, apparently it can be annoying to some:) To keep them away, fill in the pond or build a brick wall around it. ?????? |

How about a white noise machine in the bedroom of the disturbed sleeper to drown out the frog noises. |

change of seasons. They sit on the door steps at night, we really need to be careful coming and going. Even my Chesapeake Bay Retriever carries them around in his mouth to play with them. I noticed my fish today attacking a frog in the pond. I guess they wanted to suck the algae of him, he didn't care much for being lunch he held onto the lily pad for dear life. My daughter uses a fan to drown out the noice. Her window is right by the

I appreciate the constructive suggestion. I knew a lot of people wouldn't
like to hear that some of us consider frogs to be the only "downside of ponding". I wonder if people picture the trilling noise when I mention the noise. This is more like a duck sitting in your window, quacking insistently to come in. I swear they sound exaclty like ducks. Sometimes I net and relocate them, but it is hard, and there are a lot of them. Oh, well. Maybe they are eating our mostquitoes. We sure don't seem to have many. "bmuller" wrote in message s.com...
