I saw it but I don't see how some random quotes from some source or the
other, mine or his/hers, make any difference to the main discussion. It
just seems natural to me to have written discussions follow a logical,
consistent, in-order order, if you will. Proper snippage, as I have
done, helps a lot, too, and the logical time progression of the thread,
however snipped or not, is preserved. However, as I've said, I don't
care how they are posted and there are no hard and fast rules. Some I
read and some I don't, top, bottom, or middle posted.

I frequent one group non-disclosable wherein the convention is to
top post exclusively, snipping everything else except the particular
text to which you are replying, but leaving it below your response. I
tell you, it's hard to follow sometimes.

In the pun group (alt.humor.puns) and the limerick groups
(alt.arts.limericks and alt, jokes.limericks) the convention is to bottom
post but snip nothing that has gone before, although posts are snipped
and a new subject line substituted accordingly whenever a thread forks
sufficiently.. Once again, though, continuity is established and
preserved in a logical time progression, regardless of the time of
propagation on any particular news server or anybody's idea of rules.

I prefer well snipped bottom posting. I read it all or not depending
upon mood and whether I am expecting responses to particular posts of
mine. Other than that I really don't care except it sure is easier
when there is at least agreement among the participants in any
particular group.

I think it really depends upon your newsreader as to whether
or not the posts are easy to follow. OE has all the posts
lumped together. Little doubt as to what the subject is...
even when the subject changes frequently ;-)

I also think it is rather foolhardy to expect this group to adhere
to any method of posting ...

I am fully in your corner on that and think it's time, as is so often
the case on Usenet, to agree to disagree, but still remain buddies.
I'll read your top posts sometimes, you'll read my bottom posts
sometimes. OK?
