Should I turn my UV off?

I live in Northern Kentucky (border of Cincinnati) where the whether is
getting quite chilly (in the 50's, low 60's)..

Should I go ahead and turn my UV off and bring it inside or wait until it
gets colder?

I also have a waterfall running that I would like to run all winter. Should
that be a problem? This is my pond's first winter.

Thanks!

Should I turn my UV off?

We live in Idaho. Last winter was our first winter with our pond. We took our
uv light off for the winter. And we have done the same this year. We put our
pond to bed last weekend. We put in a trough heater to keep the ice from
forming. It worked great last year, hope it does the same this year.

Should I turn my UV off?

Hi Jeff where are ya in N Ky, I'm in the Florence area, just took off my uv
for the winter as well, not willing to risk freezing and busting and I don't
like messing with the water when it's really cold...burrrrr....by the way
once it gets in the 40's and 50's at night you really don't need it much,
you should be feeding less now and the fishies are just starting to slow
down a bit....hope that helps....Claude

is looking quite bare now.

Should I turn my UV off?

Kinda depressing ain't it..........put up my netting last week, still have
the pump going, generally until the first hard frost, most of the time I
keep it going until late November, hate this time of year for ponding that
is, but it gives ya a break and it's always great to start it all up again
in the spring...

Should I turn my UV off?

I'm keeping mine on, the cost is negligible, as are the bulbs and the U.V.
when over-sized will zap mold and other cold water nasties floating in the
water theoretically helping the fishies avoid disease when their immune systems
aren't working so good.

Should I turn my UV off?

with my veggie filter off I would rather the algae was using up the nutrients. I use
the bucket filter to remove the algae and gradually as the temp drops, the fish stop
blowing off ammonia and the water clears naturally. OTOH, in spring the water greens
up and I wait until the veggie filter is full and gets going a bit before I turn the
UV on to clear the pond, same idea, the algae is using up the ammonia and healthier
for the fish. Ingrid

Should I turn my UV off?

I live off right on the coast of California.. and in all my life, I've
never seen frost anything more than microns thick from maybe morning
dew. Do I still have to remove my Bitron UV lamp?
