Default Need Practical Info on Savio Skimmer

Hi folks..
I'd like to know if anyone has purchased a Savio Skimmer?
Would also like to know about the maintenance? How
much physical labor is involved and how often?

Any ideas??

a P. S.
I have found lots of online suppliers and also someone to install the Savio.
I just need to know whether or not I'll be able to maintain it ;-)
I know - you all don't know what kind of shape I'm in ....
well, not the best - but not bad for a 70+ year old either.

I have a Savio filterfall, not skimmer, the filter however is a breeze to
maintain requiring once a month cleaning of the pad.....it seems well made
and access is good....I know that does not answer your question about the
skimmer but I believe the filter is a easy to service well made product so I
presume the skimmer would be as well.

Thanks for the input, Bob. I saw these filterfalls online. They do look
easy to maintain.

My pressurized PF3000 is easy to maintain too. But it doesn't
seem to be big enough for my 2700 - 3000 gallon pond.
Needs to be cleaned at least once every other day.... ;-)

Once the VF gets going; with a Skimmer and the pressurized
PF3000 my pond work should lessen. Sure hope so.

I will be a new pond owner this season with a 4,400 gallon pond and just
got a savio skimmer from
http://www.webbsonline.com/catalog/skim/index.html , who by the way are a
great company to deal with. I have installed the skimmer but not used it
yet, but it looks very easy to maintain, I like the leaf basket. Plus if you
want to add uv lights it has a spot for them. The rear filter is just lifted
out and rinsed with water to clean also the skimmer can filter about 1000
gallons stand alone. Hope this helps.

Default Need Practical Info on Savio Skimmer

I just installed my Savio skimmer this week in my pond/stream. I also
installed the automatic water level sensor/filler (mechanical). It just pops
into one of the side pieces. It is a really nice piece of equipment. Just
make sure that your liner has NO wrinkles in it when attaching the face
plate. I have not put in the UV lights. I am running about 4500 gallons/hr
through the 8.5" skimmer. Works great so far.

Good luck.
