We have a 200 gallon stock tank and want to try scrubber pads.
Our filter is home made and follow's Skippy's design.

I was just checking around yesterday, and Skippy's prices seemed to be one
of the better deals out there.

Blue spun furnace filters, from any hardware store, work great. Been using
them for years. They never wear out and have no chemicals in them. Other
pads may work, but most have chemicals in then to kill mold, and they will
kill fish. Price them in your area, Skippy's may be a cheaper way to go,
depending on the amount you need.

I go to the $ Store and buy pot scrubber pads. They are small round nylon
pads that come 6 in a pkg. for $1.00. I put them in a laundry bag, so that
the bag can be lifted and rinsed, with pond water, not faucet water, and put
back.

Thank you Joan! I been wondering what I could do this summer when we
travel, that would keep the pump working, but still keep the pond reasonably
clean. The blue stuff works too well, and needs to be cleaned every 3 or 4
weeks in summer, my fault, as the DIY filter is too small, and I haven't
enlarged it now that the fish are bigger. I keep putting it off as hubby
says we are doing the new pond this fall. Kathy AZ

MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO SOAP residue on the pads. one time when we
were doing a water change for one of our ponds I did not rinse the
bukets out good and we lost all fish becaue of the soad residue on the
