Default Info requested: Soap and water

Hi, I use soap and water on roses and tomatoes and they have become
bug free. Some %#&!*& thing is eating my primrose UP! It is flowering
for the first time. I have a question:

I plan to remove the ugly eaten parts and was wanting to know if i can
use Dawn dish soap and water from a squirt bottle near the pond. A bit
of spray may get into the pond and if not, the toads could carry it
into the water.

What is your recommendation?

Besides, you have to get the soap on the bug, and if you can see the bug
you can pick it off. You can use diatomaceous earth, or pull the plant away
from the side of the pond, if that's possible. ~ jan
