Polliwogs, Tadpoles
 

I have a pond full of tadpoles and eggs. don't know if they are from frogs
or toads. does anyone know how long it will take for them to live out of
the water?

I don't want to use the skimmer until they are gone.

Toad eggs are laid in strings, frog eggs are laid in bunches.
Toad tadpoles will turn into toads quicker than frog tadpoles will turn into
frogs. Each are dependent on the warmth of the water and the availability of
food to some extent.
Bullfrog tadpoles will get very large and winter over in the pond (but they
will be as strong as goldfish in swimming so won't end up in the skimmer very
often).

All in all, it can take around two months, sometimes three.
Not sure how your skimmer goes but if you clean it out daily you can just toss
the taddies back in the pond.
Frogs and toads lay lots of eggs as many of their offspring are eaten up by
predators. Disaster is expected ;-)

You can always scoop out some of the egg masses and transfer them to a natural
body of water. Also watch your water quality if you have a small pond. Another
reason to move spawn. They are fun to have but can also overwhelm some small
ponds. Their parents don't have much brains to plan these things...

Thanks a bunch. The eggs were just sort of in a mass floating on top of the
water. Not strings, but if they are frog eggs, the mother must have dropped
her eggs and left. There are two small frogs in the pond and a couple of
weeks ago a toad was hanging out in the skimmer but also took off. Don't
know how big a frog (or a toad) has to be to reproduce.

Sometimes my ignorance is shocking!!
