pond plant care

Any one know why my oxygenating plants are breaking off and floating
to the top, usually the grow abundantly, pond balance good. Also we
have water Iris, Mare's tail, Scarlet Lobelia, Common Rush, Water
forget-me-not, water Dropwart, Goldent Buttons. Any tips on dead
heading, proprogating, general care would be appreciated.

A couple thoughts -

- have you added any new fish? (rough greetings from old fish)
- are they koi? (who come sometimes be very hard on plants)
- are the fish spawning? (general mayhem)
- do you live in an area where you could
have a visiting snapper turtle? (love to clip plants, usually spotted by
floating lily pads with their stems clipped at the bottom)

I have a few varieties of oxygenating plants that normally stay submerged
but this year they are sticking near the top. I believe it is because I have
too much of the damn stuff.

There's one floating plant that looks like
anacharis but has longer leaves and gets a
little white flower on it. Never saw that before.

Hi,
There is more than one 'anacharis', they all have white

flowers that float.
Elodea canadensis, E. nuttallii and Egeria densa are sold

as anacharis.

HTH -_- how
no NEWS is good.

Thanks for the link. The information was very
useful and I've bookmarked the site.

It looks like I have some Brazilian elodea
along with common waterweed. Where I got it
from I have no idea. Fortunately my ponds are
not connected with any natural water way, nor is
there a possibility of my plants getting into a
natural water way. (We're well above flood
plains & any excess plants go onto my compost
pile.)
